Two SP PNG Hunters players have been rewarded for standout performances across the opening six rounds of the QRL Hostplus Cup competition. Hunters centre Rodrick Tai and fullback Morea Morea have both been invited to train with The Dolphins NRL squad over the next month as they continue their rugby league development. Tai, who spent the offseason in Redcliffe under the watchful eye of Wayne Bennett, rejoins The Dolphins training squad this week on the back of a compelling start to the Hostplus Cup season. The strike centre has two tries and an average 129 running metres from four games this year to consistently be one of the Hunters best. YOUNG MUM TAKES UP TAXI DRIVING Post Courier  - April 25, 2023 BY CLAUDIA TALLY Mother of two, Megan Umba, has spent the last six months navigating the streets of Port Moresby as a taxi driver, a role traditionally accustomed to men. Ms Umba, a social works graduate from the University of Papua New Guinea, said her passion in the field of providing care for survivors of violence inspired her to take up the role and so far enjoys her time out on the road. “I graduated from the University of Papua New Guinea in 2018. I was working, case management of gender-based survivors and that is how I was motivated to run the taxi. At first, it is a man’s job and it is risky but I tried it for two weeks and thought it’s not that bad. So I decided to run for a month and saw that it is safe and profitable,” she said. PRIME MINISTER OPENS 6 HIGH QUALITY BRIDGES ALONG RAMU MADANG HIGHWAY by  Hon. Kessy Sawang, MP I take this time to thank the Marape-Rosso Government for its flagship “Connect PNG 2022 - 2040 Program”.  “Connect PNG” is a priority development agenda embarking on the monumental task of reaching the unreached and connecting the unconnected in a geographically challenging country. Today, I was honoured to be invited by our hardworking Minister for Works & Highways, Hon. Solan Mirisim to witness the Prime Minister’s official opening of the Tapo Bridge in Ward 14, Astrolabe Bay LLG, Rai Coast District, along the Lae-Madang Highway. The opening of Tapo Bridge also signifies the opening of 5 other bridges along the Ramu-Madang section of the Lae-Madang Highway.  I am profoundly grateful that 4 of the 6 modern & fortified bridges are in the section of the highway that passes through my District. Tapo is the only wet crossing on the highway.  Many lives have been lost there.  I am profo

Sir Brian Bell, celebrating a toast with Sir Albert Maori Kiki (then Deputy PM) after the successful sworning in of first 52 Naturalised PNG citizens of mainly Australian descent on 1st September 1975. Australia did not then recognized dual citizenship, so anyone choosing to become a Papua New Guinean lost their Australian passports. Many Australians left at that time. But others, looked upon PNG as their home, even if it means losing their Australian birthright. Late Sir Brian and wife Jean Bell were among them. Jean died in 1992 while Sir Brian lived on until 25th July 2010. Both were buried side by side at the 9 Mile Cemetery outside Port Moresby (Sinclair, J. 2010. Ishmael Toroama, MHR - https://abg.gov.pg/index.php/news/read/statement-from-the-office-the-president-response-to-david-arores-behaviour Statement from the Office the President: Response to David Arore's behaviour. It is customary in every part of Papua New Guinea that you do not stand on the threshold of a person’s home and insult them to their face. The comments by the Member for Ijivitari Hon. Mr. Arore’s visit to Bougainville was part of a delegation led by the Minister for Bougainville Affairs Mannaseh Makiba.
