ADMINISTRATION OFFICER
FLEMING FUND COUNTRY GRANT
Burnet Institute is a leading not-for-profit, unaligned, and independent Australian medical research and public health organisation focused on achieving better health for vulnerable communities in Australia and internationally by accelerating the translation of research, discovery and evidence into sustainable health solutions. The Institute is headquartered in Melbourne with programs that operate across Asia, the Pacific and in Africa. This includes technical specialists, scientists and researchers based in our Melbourne office and international staff working through international offices in Myanmar and Papua New Guinea.
We are seeking a qualified and experienced professional for the following position:
Administration Officer – Full Time Contract, located in Port Moresby office, N.C.D
The Administration Officer (AO) is to support the FFCG project based in Port Moresby Office, ensuring that day to day activities are carried out in an efficient, transparent and accountable manner. AO will lead all general administration activities and duties including management of day-to-day administrative affairs. They will be required to support the FFCG team and be a key support role to the Team Leader. The role involves considerable multi-tasking and the position holder is expected to manage job requirements through effective daily coordination and prioritization of tasks. The AO is supervised by and reports to the Team Leader, also works in close coordination with the Port Moresby based staff and in a collaborative manner with Kokopo based staff as well as Melbourne based Burnet staff. The position holder actively participates in improving and maintaining office systems and is aware of and adheres to Burnet policies, procedures, and standards in all activities s/he performs. The AO will establish good working relationships with Project team staff; provide them with guidance and assistance regarding travel/meeting bookings, office administration and customer service with general HR & finance admin assistance when required.
Job Requirements:
To be successful in this role candidates must meet the following key selection criteria:
Relevant admin qualifications (diploma/degree)
Finance or accounting experience.
A current driver’s license (Class 1) and willingness to drive if required.
Previous and / or experience working in an NGO, development or public health organisation
Strong experience/background working in an administrative capacity.
Highly functional in the use of computer and Microsoft Office programs.
Ability to work independently or as a member of an integrated team.
Excellent English, Tok Pisin and Motu written oral communication skills.
Ability to accurately perform tasks under pressure with strong organizational skills and ability to manage own workload.
Ability to compile and file relevant documentation for finance and HR when required.
A positive and proactive attitude.
Commitment to duties and willingness to take on extra duties as required.
