Wong: Attendance at rugby match beneficial 👀

The Prime Minister and his delegation's recent attendance at the traditional PNG Vs Australia PM's 13 rugby league match recently was also part of a bilateral program.
Minister for Fisheries and Marine Resources, Jelta Wong said the visit involved meetings between both Prime Ministers and senior ministers, where they discussed economic, educational and sporting co-operation prior to the match.
He was disappointed that certain media outlets got the numbers all wrong and should think twice in the future and check their facts before misleading the nation.
“Rugby League is potentially a massive economic sector in PNG, but we need to promote it and better our players and teams in overseas competitions.
PNG is the number one rugby league country in the world with a greater proportion of rugby league fans per population than any other country,” said Minister Wong.
Minister Wong added, "We want to get a team in the NRL, and we want to host neutral State of Origin games.
This is not only for the enjoyment of our people, but the economic potential is massive. So good on the PM and his delegation for advancing our prospects to expand the economic potential of rugby League in our country.”
