You will deliver by;

  • Complete tasks only if the hazards associated with the task are understood, potential consequences, and the correct controls as agreed with the Supervisor
  • Present to work mentally and physically fit for their role.
  • Stop a task and advise the relevant supervisor immediately if it is not able to be completed safely or without harm to health or the environment.
  • Effectively manage time to complete tasks in line with standards and safety regulations and adjusts plan to cater for unforeseen events/disruptions
  • Recognises problems and understands the need for, and collects additional information to identify the root cause
  • Works with Social Performance team to develop and implement planned projects and to make sure sustaining initiatives are included and delivered as part of the Kapit Resettlement Project and other Community Development Projects
  • Tracks and reports project activities, milestones, budgets and risk

Essential criteria & Qualification. 

  • Bachelor’s degree of Regional and Town Planning with 5+ years relevant work experience in land tenure and community development projects.
  • The ability and drive to lead a multi skilled professional team in a technically and socially challenging and geographically remote environment
  • Previous experience working on Lihir and the ability and drive to supervise a work group in a culturally challenging environment will be advantageous.

 Desirable criteria

  • Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Sound planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.

The Requirements

  • Must be open to working at the LGO office and residing in Port Moresby with the flexibility to travel to Lihir on a regular basis.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
