PM MARAPE CALLS ON FOREST AUTHORITY TO CEASE ISSUANCE OF NEW TIMBER  LICENSES by Marape - Rosso Government 2022 Prime Minister James Marape has advised the Papua New Guinea Forest Authority to cease new timber licenses and review the 205 established licenses which by now should have an element of downstream processing. The Prime Minister Marape said this in his first ever visit to the PNGFA Headquarters in Hohola this week. PM Marape says there should not be any renewal of permits until all licenses are reviewed and the holders consider downstream processing.  Prime Minister Marape emphasized that from now on only landowner timber companies will be allowed to have permit licenses. Meantime, the Prime Minister is calling on the 205 permit license holders to partner with the Marape-Rosso government on the way forward. PM MARAPE ATTENDS FIRST EVER US PACIFIC ISLAND COUNTRY SUMMIT by Marape - Rosso Government 2022 | Wednesday, September 28th, 2022. Washington D.C.  Washington DC-US: The Prime Minister Hon James Marape lead his Papua New Guinea-PNG delegation into the first ever U.S-Pacific Island Country Summit at the State Department Building in Washington DC today (Wednesday, 28th September 2022, 1pm (local time). Mr Marape was accompanied by Foreign Minister Justin Tkatchenko, Foreign Affairs Secretary Elias Wohengu, Ambassador Max Rai, Representative to the PNG Permanent Mission to UN, Charge de' Affaires to the PNG Embassy in Washington DC, Mr Cephas Kayo and senior PNG government officials. The Governor of East New Britain Michael Marum, Goilala MP, Casmiro Aia and North Waghi MP, Benjamin Mul are also part of the Prime Minister's delegation to the Summit. James Marape has invited leading Japanese company Sojitz Corporation into the upstream and downstream processing of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Papua New Guinea.
