PM MARAPE CALLS ON FOREST AUTHORITY TO CEASE ISSUANCE OF NEW TIMBER  LICENSES

Prime Minister James Marape has advised the Papua New Guinea Forest Authority to cease new timber licenses and review the 205 established licenses which by now should have an element of downstream processing.

The Prime Minister Marape said this in his first ever visit to the PNGFA Headquarters in Hohola this week.

PM Marape says there should not be any renewal of permits until all licenses are reviewed and the holders consider downstream processing.

Prime Minister Marape emphasized that from now on only landowner timber companies will be allowed to have permit licenses.

Meantime, the Prime Minister is calling on the 205 permit license holders to partner with the Marape-Rosso government on the way forward.

This is your Marape-Rosso Government at work to protect our resources and to maximize more benefits for our people to Take Back PNG for better PNG.
