My name is Melissa Minikowski, and I work for a two-week, residential summer program at Yale University. I'm reaching out to the Opportunity Desk community to spread news of our program for talented high school students.

Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) is an academic exploratory program that brings together high school students worldwide to facilitate discussions on cutting-edge topics in academia. Participants choose a session based on their academic interest, and they meet like-minded peers from around the world. We are very excited to return back to campus after moving to an online model during the pandemic.

YYGS offers sessions in the humanities, social sciences, STEM fields, and a cross-disciplinary track that incorporates all of the above.

Here's what you need to know:
  • Students meet peers from over 150 countries and all 50 U.S. states, and join classroom discussions where students offer global perspectives.
  • We provide over $3 Million USD in need-based financial aid and scholarships, offered as discounts covering up to 100% of tuition costs.
  • Applicants are encouraged to apply by the Early Action deadline for a discounted application fee. If the fee poses a financial burden, students can submit a fee waiver to reduce their application fee to $0 USD.

Pettison Brownie is a young Central/Oro man who is still trying to complete his schooling through FODE (Flexible Open & Distance Education) while working part-time at BNG Trading stacking pallets in their warehouse – and on the side he has started an SME squeezing local fruits and creating nutritious fresh juices to sell. Check out the flavours under his 'Petty' label – lemonade, passionade, melonade and orangeade! Pettison, 24, whose SME is called Easy Yoke Fresh Juice Product, won the Young Entrepreneur Award at the annual SME Awards on Thursday night and we applaud his initiative in taking on the big juice companies to sell an affordable and delicious 100% natural juice. THERE IS NO LAW  THAT PROMOTES OR LEGITIMISE THE PROMOTION OF LESBIAN GAY Bi-SEXUAL TRANSGENDER QUEER (LGBTQ) IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA Loop PNG Prime Minister James Marape has confirmed that there is no bill before Parliament to legitimise LGBTQ rights. He stressed that the Papua New Guinean Parliament is not likely to pass any legislation on this any time soon. The Prime Minister said the existing laws of the country are sufficient to protect the rights of all PNG citizens and residents including those in the LGBTQ (Lesbian Gay Bi-Sexual Transgender Queer) community. “There is no bill with our government to promote gays and lesbians in the country. Neither will there be any promotion of gays and lesbians under my watch. People’s sexual preferences are within their individual rights of choice but our government will not be promoting this matter or be seen to be legitimizing gay or lesbian rights in PNG.
