Job Summary
Travel Officer
We are currently seeking to recruit a Travel Officer to join our highly dynamic workforce within our Simberi Operations Island in New Ireland Province.
The Role
Reporting to the Travel Supervisor, this position will support the Travel team in managing rosters, flights, accommodation and travel movements for all personnel travelling to and from the Simberi mine site.
This is an exciting time to join Simberi & St Barbara as we embark on our “Building Brilliance” journey to transform the business and deliver sustainable value.
This is a FIFO position; the roster is a 15/13 roster. Point of Hire is restricted to Kavieng/Rabaul/Port Moresby/Lae/Mt Hagen or Tabar group of Islands. (Locals are encouraged to apply)
Key responsibilities include:
Ensuring own Health & Safety as well as that of all other workers, identifying and maintaining safe work practices and completing all required safety training.
Ensure compliance with Airline and Simberi Gold Company policies.
Undertake arrangement and booking of all SGCL employees, contractor and visitor flights including local and international charters, local and international airlines as well as sea and land transportation.
Undertake arrangement and booking of all necessary and applicable accommodation locally and internationally as required.
Issuing purchase orders to Simberi Travel suppliers including airline companies and hotels.
Prepare and distribute, in a timely fashion, all necessary itineraries for flights and accommodation in relation to the above.
Identifies and enforces corporate travel policies and procedures to improve workflow efficiency and reduce cost savings in overall operation.
Determines best booking procedure based on cost savings and communicates itinerary and instructions to senior staff and employees.
Preparation and distribution of all flight and charter schedules.
Ensure compliance with Safety policies & regulations when dispatching passengers travelling by boat to/from Simberi.
Maintain travel/roster/leave/workgroup records for employees and contractors in INX Inflight.
Monitor procedural changes as directed by the relevant internal/external authorities.
Identify changes required to improve travel services and implement working smarter principles.
Make travel arrangements for all FIFO employees and contractors including flight bookings in the PNG Air reservations system (VRS) and accommodation.
Monitor and implement Health & Safety (e.g. COVID19) measures/policies/processes
Qualifications, skills, and experience required:
Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
Experience in the Travel industry
Experience working in a mining environment on FIFO rotation
Current Class 6 PNG Drivers licence
Dangerous Goods Certification
Loadmaster Certificate
Competent user of Pronto system, INX Inflight and the PNG Air reservations system (VRS).
