By Exepreneur Magazine

Female leadership matters now more than ever.

Having women in corporate leadership roles is key to navigating the pandemic-accelerated rise in service disruption and digital transformation across the world.

Corporate organizations in Papua New Guinea are responding positively in a direction that has seen more women leaders appointed to take up key corporate executive roles in recent times.

The PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum in a recent statement announced the appointment of Mrs. Pansy Taueni-Sialis to the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer which adds to the increasing pool of female corporate executives in PNG

Mrs. Taueni-Sialis is a home-grown PNG mining and petroleum professional and brings to the Chamber a wealth of experience from over 20 years working in the mining and petroleum industry, in senior management roles in human resources, corporate services, safety and risk, and training.

Mrs. Taueni-Sialis is recognized as a PNG expert on workforce development, diversity and inclusion program design, operational excellence, business improvement, and organizational strategy, particularly in the resources sector.

"The Chamber is delighted that they could bring into the organization a high performing and talented PNG professional with the accomplished background and expertise of Pansy Taueni-Sialis with such a strong understanding of the operations of the resources sector,  President of the PNG Chamber of Mines Anthony Smare says

As COO she will be focused on ramping up the operations of the Chamber of Mines and Petroleum, particularly in terms of how it services and engages with Chamber members, and various stakeholder groups, as well as helping lead important industry initiatives relating to local content, workforce development, and industry-wide CSR initiatives according to the statement released.

Mrs. Taueni-Sialis's first order of business will be to help the Chamber with the organization of the prestigious 16th PNG Mining and Petroleum Investment Conference that will be held in Sydney on 5 December this year and is expected to be attended by over 1300 international delegates from mining, petroleum, energy, investment, and finance sectors globally as they discuss investing in PNG's resources sector.

Mrs. Taueni-Sialis has a Masters in human resource management from Monash University, Australia, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Organizational Psychology from the University of Papua New Guinea.
